Obituary of George David Brown
Brown, Mr. George David (Jim)
Passed away peacefully at his home, Friday, June 18, 2010. George David "Jim" Brown, of Forest, Ontario. Beloved husband of Pauline (Ivanco). Father of Tom (Dottie), Debbie (Tom) Barry, Jeff (Cindy) and Barclay. Grandpa of Mackenzie, Dan, Jake, Caitlin, and Shaun. Brother of Richard and Marion Brown. Brother in law of Anna Boris and Maria Seguin of Forest and Helen Biernat of Peterborough, and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his mother Marguerite (Brown) Rivers, and Curly Rivers, and father George Brown, and his brothers in law Joe Boris, Walter Seguin, and Ed Biernat.
Jim, known to many friends as Sod, was a lifelong resident of Forest. Jim's family have grown and harvested peaches, pears, cherries, and apples in the fertile soils of Lambton County for generations. Jim and Pauline spent their lives together pruning trees in the spring to hand-picking and hand-packing the fruit to ensure the best quality reached their long time loyal customers and friends at the Sarnia Farmers Market, Beechwood Farm Market on the Lake Road, or at their home orchard on Beechwood Avenue in Forest. For over a century, many local residents have made friendships, shared stories and fond memories of helping with the Govenlock/Brown season's harvest. After retiring, Jim returned each spring to his love of the outdoors, pruning and caring for a local fruit grower's orchard. Jim now had time to enjoy the neighbourhood fellas, old friends and especially his family.
Jim passed away at the place he loved, on his farm, at 81 years of age.
