Obituary of Joseph Charles Siler
Joseph "Joe" Charles Siler, born June 14, 1940 to Charles and Marie Siler, left this world on May 17, 2014. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Joe was born and raised in Merrill, Michigan the only son of seven children. He worked his way through St. Thomas Aquinas College and spent many years of his early career with Standard Oil in the Detroit area before moving his family to Washington, IN and founding Siler Oil Company. After building a successful business, he eventually retired to Lambton Shores, Ontario. Joe served as the Exulted Ruler of the Elks Lodge 933, and was a member of the Petroleum Marketing Board, the Sons of American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, the Eagles, and Ruritan National. Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, and anything else outdoors. He had a passion for music that showed in his beautiful singing voice that he regularly shared in the Church choir.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Forbes Siler of Lambton Shores, Ontario, two sisters, Lois Foy and Jackie Foye, his three children, Joseph (Heidi) Siler of Indianapolis, IN, (Jon) Michelle Stanley of Carmel, IN, (John) Jeannine Sell of Carmel, and five grandchildren. Joe was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Viau Siler.
There will be a private memorial service announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Aquinas College Alumni Association (http://www.aquinas.edu/alumni/give.html).
