Obituary of John King

KING John Franklyn King in his 94th year passed away peacefully at his home in Forest on Sunday, May 4th, 2008. Devoted and loving husband of 61 years to Doris (Fisher) King. He was loved and cherished by his family. Loving father of Beverly Fenner-Peters and her husband Gordon and Nancy Hogarth and her husband Grant. Loved grandpa of Brenda Saunders (Mike), Jim Fenner, Jon Fenner (Julie), Crystal DeSchutter and fiancé Dennis Hillier and Ed DeSchutter and fiancé Melanie Urquhart. Loved great grandpa of Corey and Caitlyn Saunders and poppa to Kolton Fenner. Predeceased by his parents Frank and Ettie King and step-mother Cora King. Also predeceased by his sisters Christina Patterson and Alma Murray; brothers George King and Stanley King and son in law Jim Fenner. Survived by his sister in law Jessie King, brothers in law Murray and Dorothy Fisher, Ivan and Marjorie Fisher and Keith and Norma Fisher and many nieces and nephews. John was a farmer in Plympton Township for many years before retiring to Forest. During his life, he was a councilor and reeve of Plympton Township, was a Lambton County councilor and served on numerous municipal committees. For over 60 years John was a member of Acorn Lodge #263 IOOF and a long serving elder of Knox Presbyterian Church, Camlachie. Friends may call at the Dodge Funeral Home, Forest on Monday, May 5th, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1:30 pm. Rev. Ena Van Zoeren officiating. Private family interment to follow at Wyoming cemetery. Acorn Lodge #263 IOOF will conduct a memorial service Monday evening at 6:45 pm. If desired, memorial contributions to the Sarnia-Lambton VON, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or the Knox Presbyterian Church, Camlachie would be appreciated as your expression of sympathy.
