Obituary of Donald Roy Lambert
LAMBERT, Mr. Donald Roy
Donald Roy Lambert passed away on October 14, 2016 peacefully at the age of 87. He was born on June 15, 1929. He was pre-deceased by his wife Sarah (Sally) Louise Lambert (Campbell), his mother, Josephine Elizabeth Williams, and his father, Roy Leonard Lambert. Don married the love of his life and as an only child, he also felt blessed to be part of the Campbell family with ten children where he was the first in-law. He is survived by his four children Sarah (Steve) Lambert-Clarkson, Carol (Rick) McIntosh, Monica (Brad) Douglas and Gordon (Kathy) Lambert. He was loved by his eight grandchildren Justin (Kealy), Caitlin (Ian), Lauren (Eddy), Adam (Jenn), Jordan (Lindsay), Andrea (Kamil), Sean, Cameron, and 4 great grandchildren, Mitchell, Emmett, Henry and Helen. He was a very engaged and proud grandfather who was always interested in their lives and had a special gift as a mentor and teacher to them. Grandpa Don will always be remembered when the family spends time at the Moon River Muskoka cottage that he and Sally built 47 years ago. He was born and raised in Toronto where he was an accomplished hockey player during his youth. He played semi pro hockey during his university career and went on to coach and play for the Sarnia Sailors. He graduated from the University of Toronto in Chemical Engineering and was hired by Imperial Oil Limited where he worked for 36 years. With Imperial he learned the refining business in Sarnia Ontario and then went on to spend time in 9 different cities including Miami Florida and Talara Peru assuming various technical and managerial roles. The Sarnia refinery was always his home operation which he helped shape over its history. Don had a curious, brilliant and critical mind that made him a life long learner. His wisdom was sought out by many and following his retirement from Imperial he was a valued advisor to several major firms. Don had special relationships with the staff of Fairwinds in Sarnia and North Lambton Lodge in Forest Ontario where he valued their care and especially took an interest in young staff as they embarked on their lives. The family is deeply appreciative of the excellent care from both facilities. Donations for Don in honour of his life can be made to North Lambton Lodge. A celebration of life will be held at a future date. Online condolences may be left at www.denning.ca Funeral arrangements entrusted to DENNINGS OF FOREST
