Obituary of Victor Howard
HOWARD
I have fought the fight
I have finished the race

Victor Alexander-Edward Howard of Rodney passed away in his 80th year at the Bobier Villa, Dutton on Sunday, January 20, 2008. He was predeceased by his parents Carrie (Goodbrand) and Archie Howard and brother Harold Howard. Victor and Harold were partners in Howard Machine and Equipment Ltd. of Rodney for 40 years.
Vic was the beloved husband of Olive (Ripley) for over 58 years. He is lovingly missed by his son Richard Howard of New Glasgow and daughter Elaine (Robert) Smith of Carstairs, AB. Dear grandfather of Jason and Isaac Howard; Gregory (Kim) and Robby Smith and great granddaughter Rachel Howard. Vic is also greatly missed by his sisters Ruth (Frank) Humphrey of Stratford, Evelyn (Douglas 2004) Bailey of Chatham; sister-in-law Winifred (Harold 2004) Howard of Rodney and many loving nieces and nephews.
Vic had a strong Christian faith and gave freely of his time and talents. He served both the Rodney Christian and Baptist churches and was a Deacon Emeritus in the West Lorne Baptist Church. He delivered Meals on Wheels for many years and always took time for a visit with friends that lived alone. Vic also enjoyed his tenure with the Rodney Kiwanis Club and being on the Board of the Aldborough Old Boys. He volunteered school direction in shop for the Board of Education and in the 70's was on the Bombardier Advisory Council. For doing this, Vic was given a trip to help introduce snowmobiles to Slovenia. Vic also had a great passion for sports and coached baseball and hockey for 8 consecutive years. After retiring, he golfed, curled and carpet bowled for as long as he was able. The family would like to thank Dr. M Tenki and the staff of Bobier Villa for the exceptional care given to Victor.
The family will be receiving friends at the Rodney Chapel on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. where funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1:00 pm. Pastor Adam Hall officiating. Interment Rodney Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Victor are asked to consider the West Lorne Baptist Church or the Bobier Villa in Dutton.
